Some children need a tutor who genuinely understands learning differences — not someone who just re-teaches the worksheet louder. Julie is a dual-certified special and elementary educator who has spent her career helping kids with IEPs, ADHD, and diverse learning profiles feel capable again.
Book a Free Meet & Greet →Julie holds a Bachelor's in Special Education and Elementary Education and a Master's in Elementary Education, and she's certified in both general and special education. Over 36+ years she has worked with all kinds of learners across self-contained, resource, and inclusion settings — so she's seen, firsthand, what helps kids who learn differently actually move forward.
That experience matters most in the small moments: knowing when to slow down, how to break a task into steps, when a child needs a brain break, and how to keep a frustrated learner from giving up.
Every child gets an individualized approach. Where an IEP or 504 plan exists, Julie aligns tutoring to its goals so sessions reinforce — not contradict — what the school team is working toward. With your permission, she's also glad to coordinate with your child's classroom teacher.
Sessions are fully online, one-on-one, and 60 minutes.
Many families of students with disabilities use ESA funds for exactly this kind of support. Sonoran Tutoring is an approved ESA vendor on ClassWallet, and we handle the ESA-friendly invoicing — see our ESA page or the 2026 ESA tutoring guide.
